What is Sunday Morning Live?
Sunday Morning Live happens on Sunday mornings (pretty obvious, right?) at 9:15 AM. The purpose of SML is to help train students in serving the world. On the first Sunday of each month, instead of going to their regular classes, Remix students (grades 9-12) will all meet together at the church to focus specifically on growing in service to the world. On the last Sunday of each month DV8 students (grades 6-8) will do the same.
Since all classes offered are based heavily on the Bible, please bring your Bible to SML! If you don’t have a Bible, we can get one for you.
DV8 (Grades 6-8) students meet in the youth room at the church for the first half hour and then split into the following classes:
Grade 6 boys – Room 201 – “Character” – studying stories from the Old Testament
Grade 6 girls – Youth Room – “Character – studying the stories from the Old Testament
Grade 7 boys – Room 150 – “Christ” – studying the life of Christ
Grade 7 girls – Youth Room – “Christ” – studying the life of Christ
Grade 8 boys – Classroom B – “Community” – studying God’s intention for the Church
Grade 8 girls – Mezzanine above chair room in the gym – “Community – studying God’s intention for the Church
Remix SML (Grades 9-12) will be broken into three 8 week semesters (10 weeks including the “Serve the World” Sundays). Each semester, the goal is to offer three classes to choose from. You will attend that class consistently for the semester and then have opportunity to choose another class in the next semester. These classes begin on February 8 and go through to April 12. They meet on the second floor of the new wing.
“Evangelism”
Teachers: Jim Nikkel, Pat Landers
This class will be a study of evangelism including social justice, sharing your testimony, the basics of the good news message of Jesus and world missions. It will use media and be highly interactive. You will discover that there is not just one way to “do evangelism” but that God has created you with a unique style that he wants you to use to share his message.
“Basic”
Teacher: Jim Hogan
This class is the foundation for serving the world. It will explore the basic beliefs and practices of Christianity. This class may be beneficial even if you’ve grown up going to Sunday School and church and think you know all there is to know about following Jesus. This will take you back to the basics and help you to grow in service to the world from there.
