Vibrant worship through the arts plays a huge part of who we are here at Efree Lethbridge. Our regular Sunday worship services allow us to gather together and love God through corporate singing, love one another through times of fellowship and exhortation from the word of God, and be challenged and inspired to go out and serve the world. We’d love to have you join us at one of our Sunday services at 9:15 or 11:00 AM, or Church at 6 (PM) our creative, casual alternative.
We believe strongly in the importance of clearly communicating the gospel and believe the arts are one of the means that God uses to speak to people. We regularly use music ranging from a solo or band to a full orchestra or choir to communicate this life giving message in our regular Sunday services as well as big productions like Christmas and Easter. Music isn’t the only thing we do – technical arts play a huge role in helping everything to work and be seen and heard in new ways. Actors and visual designers also help us communicate in new and exciting ways. Below are a few examples of the kind things that we do, though we’re always looking for creative people to help us expand and change to better serve the congregation.
Music – Worship Teams, Choir, Orchestra
There are a variety of worship teams that serve in different capacities here at Efree. These teams help lead worship on Sundays and with other ministries, but also serve as a place to develop personal musical skills and group playing/singing ability. All worship teams are auditioned, but we’re always glad to try to get more people involved! Ken Dosso conducts this choir of about 50 voices. They can be seen helping to lead worship and doing special pieces on approximately one of every two Sundays throughout the Fall, Winter and Spring. They also play a key role in our large Christmas and Easter productions, as well as other special events around the church. An orchestra is also assembled for productions, and we’re always looking for new ways to include different instruments in our ministries.
Technical Arts – Sound, Lighting, Projection, Stage Crew, Video and Studio
Sound, lighting and projection play a key role in helping us to communicate in our services and ministries. Along with those, stage crew is often used in bigger productions and they play a key role in helping us creatively communicate through sets and props. Video is becoming an increasingly used medium throughout the church, whether for a testimony of someone who cannot be present or a recap video of a youth event. We also have a recording studio at the church which we are using for all kinds of projects. We are always looking for new people who are looking to get involved and help serve, whether you have no experience or you’re a professional!
Actors
Whether acting a one minute drama in one of our weekly services or playing a lead role in our Christmas production, actors are used to help communicate the truths of God in moving and compelling ways.
Visual Designers & Producers
We try to be creative in using every visual inside (and outside) of the building to help communicate. We’re always looking for artistic input for our productions and services throughout the year.
We’re always glad to answer any questions and help you find the place where you would best fit. Feel free to email or call either Dave or Ken anytime. ken.dosso@telus.net dsiverns@telus.net
